Carnival Australia has announced that one of the most highly regarded members of the maritime industry, Teresa Lloyd, will join its local team.
Currently managing director of industry body Maritime Industry Australia Ltd (MIAL), Ms Lloyd will join Carnival Australia in the new role of Director of Strategy and External Affairs.
The appointment comes as Carnival Australia’s vice president of corporate affairs, Sandy Olsen, has been promoted to a general affairs position for the Holland America Group.
Ms. Olsen will relocate to the West Coast of the United States and will officially take office upon her arrival.
Carnival Australia chairman Marguerite Fitzgerald said Ms Lloyd will join the team at an exciting time as the organization’s cruise lines return to service in the region and reset their priorities.
Ms Lloyd began her career as a naval architect before heading technical services at the Port Hedland Port Authority in Western Australia.
She returned to her home state of Victoria to work on a national ballast water demonstration project on behalf of the government before leading MIAL in 2008.
“Teresa is a perfect fit for Carnival Australia given her deep technical knowledge and vast experience in championing the maritime industry over the past 14 years in her current leadership role,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“In this expanded role, Teresa will be responsible for helping to define and then oversee the implementation of Carnival Australia’s key priority areas as we build a stronger and more sustainable business over time.
“She will also assume responsibility for corporate affairs functions, including government relations, media relations, internal communications and event management.
“I would also like to thank Sandy for her personal support since I started earlier this year and for her tireless efforts on behalf of Carnival Australia and its brands over many years.
“It’s also an exciting time for Sandy as she brings her experience and skills to a new environment within the family.”
Ms Lloyd will join Carnival Australia in mid-July.
